where i live - cape cod, massachusetts. usa

mission: MUSE - "where i live"
by muse lucy
What is Cape Cod?
It's a summer place and a year-round place.
An ocean place and a woods place.
Historic and modern.  Artistic and down-to-earth.
Rich and poor.  Aging and vibrant.
Beautiful.  Overpopulated.  Elegant.  Overbuilt.
Tourists and old-timers.  Wash-ashores and natives.

Here's how Cape Cod looks to me:
 The ocean has many moods.

 We enjoy the night life.

There are beautiful gardens and farms,

 and historic buildings.

 Interesting people.

 Family and friends.

Antiques, museums, libraries, and history.

But my favorite thing about Cape Cod is the light -- summer, winter, spring, fall.
A photographer's dream.

You can read more about my life on Cape Cod on my blog, a little light reading.

We would love to see where you live. If you would like to join in,
send an email to mortalmuses [at] yahoo.com.

  4. Oh, my goodness...at first I thought the 'historic buildings' would be my favorite set of images. But then I got to the 'light' set...swoon!

  9. I was so happy to see images from Cape Cod....we used to spend our summers in S.Chatham - memories include the ice-cream truck coming to the beach parking lot, jumping off a wood "bridge" which crossed a crick', stormy days at the beach, wearing a thick sweater and playing with hermit crabs.....

Thanks for reminding me of what a beautiful place it is....

  13. This is a fantastic post, Lucy! While I am a Maine girl, the Cape is my other home of the soul. We go there as often as we can, and fall is my very favorite time to be there--especially when I can hit the Wellfleet Oyster Festival! Your photos capture the feeling of the place beautifully.
